Raise The Jolly Roger: Somewhere In Time Page 6

The pub has worn looking picnic style tables with benches that run down the center. What looks like black fish netting dangles from various places on the ceiling and pillars. At the bottom of each pillar, a barrel sits. The barrels look like they may or may not have held rum in them at one point. They are now being used for people to use like bistro tables. A lot of the pirates are enjoying the attention they are getting from the wenches, all of whom are dressed in very little. My guess is they belong to either the pub brothel or to a brothel close by.

William interrupts my musings. “Stay with Cassy. Some have taken notice of her and I don’t trust their threats,” he orders Demetrius, then turns to me. “Stay with him. Get a drink or food, but don’t leave his side.”

“Go, I’ll be fine.” He gives me one last look then shares a look with Demetrius before departing.

“What kind of business is William attending to?” I ask as Demetrius leads me to a table.

“He has dealings with the barkeep. Loot for goods for,” he shrugs.

A bar wench comes to the table to take our orders. Demetrius orders an ale and stew and I order the same. If he’s eating it, it must be somewhat safe. The wench comes back to the table to drop off our food and drinks. I see her eyeing Demetrius and I smirk as I take a sip. The ale is smooth and warm, but most things are warm in this time. Demetrius pays no attention to the woman as she comes back. She bows her head and walks away.

“You know you could have said thank you or at least smiled at her,” I say before taking a bite of the stew, which is good.

Demetrius’ head pops up and he raises a brow. “Who?”

I nod my head in the direction of the wench. “She has been eyeing you since I walked in the door. You should go talk to her. You’re both young, good looking people. And you look like you could use a good lay.” I laugh.

He looks at me, amused. “I could have any woman I want.”

“I don’t doubt that one bit. So, why don’t you?” He looks over at the woman. They seem to have some sort of familiarity with each other. “Do you know her?”

“Aye, I know her. We were young lovers. But we drifted apart long ago.”

“Well, drift back together. Go talk to her,” I suggest as I take another swig of my ale.

  “I’m to watch over ye.”

I roll my eyes. “I’m a big girl, Demetrius, and I can take care of myself. Besides, the place is not very crowded and you will be within eye shot of me. Go on. What will it hurt to at least talk?”

Demetrius gives me a long look before taking up his mug and guzzling the rest down. Slamming it down on the table, he says, “Don’t leave me sight.”

  “I wouldn’t dare.” I smile.

I watch as he approaches the woman and they start to talk. As they talk, I notice how they stand and can tell that they did love each other at one time. She looks desperate to touch him. I’ve known that feeling all too well; wanting something that is just always out of reach. Falling in and out of love my whole life, yet never finding the one man who fulfills all my desires. Not until William. And how can that be a happily ever after story? I feel as if at any minute, something will trigger me to wake in my own time and I’ll lose him forever.

I continue to eat my stew and ponder over what my life has turned into the last few weeks. From losing my parents and my way in life, to finding love in a place that should be impossible. Not paying attention to what’s going on around me, I feel someone come to stand behind me. My back stiffens when I smell the stench coming from that person. I know it must be the guy from the street earlier. I steady my breathing and close my eyes. When I open them, I scan around and see Demetrius watching from across the room. We make eye contact and I slightly shake my head, telling him to stay put. He nods but has his hand hovering over his cutlass to prepare for an attack.

“I knew I’d be getting’ me way with ye, wench,” the man gives an evil laugh.

I don’t say anything, but I look through the corner of my eye to see if he has anyone else with him. Being a nurse, working late hours and not in the best parts of town, I have taken many self-defense classes over the years. I just need to stay calm and see what his next move will be. He brushes his hips closer to my spine so I can feel his erection...if that’s what he calls it. I stifle a laugh because if that’s all he’s got, no wonder he needs to force a woman. His smell and rotting teeth repelled me already. I guess I’ll add this to his list of grievances.

  “Did ye hear me, wench?”

I turn to the side in case I need the weapons that William insisted I carry. Now I know why he wanted me to take them. “I’m sorry, are you talking to me? I can’t seem to get around the smell that seems to be coming from you.”

My words piss him off. He grabs my hair and forces me to stand. At this point, everyone in the pub is staring at us. Demetrius is moving toward his cutlass and I shake my head again. He doesn’t look very pleased, but now I’m in a better position to fight off my attacker. Although my scalp stings from him pulling it.

“So, you like it rough, huh?” I ask to piss him off more. If I can keep his mind on his dick long enough then I can take care of myself with little to no blood shed.

“Ye‘ve no idea how rough I like it, wench.” He pulls me closer to him; my back to his front with his hand wrapped around my front, groping my breast.

“You know, I like it rough, too.” Since the foul man is standing behind me, I slide my hand up his leg and once I get to my goal, I caress his cock through his pants to get his erection to sprout big enough so I can grab onto it. He moans his approval. Once it’s semi hard, I grab hold with everything I’ve got, squeezing his dick until the guy screams at the top of his lungs and lets go of me. I take that time to drop his sick member, spin, and kick him in the gut with my booted foot. Once he’s flat on his back, I lean over him and say, “Don’t fuck with me, you got it?”

He nods as he gingerly rolls over, one hand holding his pathetic dick, and waddles to the door. Every man in the room, including Demetrius, has a protective hand over their crotches. I think that will keep people away from me; for now at least. I call over to the bar wench. “Can I get another ale, please?”

The bar wench brings me my drink with a smile and a wink as she goes back to work. Demetrius walks back and takes a seat across from me. “Well, ye’ve not only proved yerself to the crew but to all of the pub. It won’t be long before all on the island knows to leave ye be.”

“Good.” I nod as I take a swig.

  “Good and bad.”

“Bad why?” I ask as I set my mug down.

“If they want ye bad enough then they will know not to come within yer reach. They will use weapons.”

  “Shit.”

“Aye. Ye need to learn to wield a sword.”

“I guess you’re right. Why must everything be so violent here?”

  “’Tis the way ’tis.”

“How much longer do you think William will be?” I’m starting to feel nervous from what Demetrius just said.

Demetrius looks over toward the bar when we hear people talking. William’s hearing a tale from a few pirates that had witnessed the altercation. When he walks toward us, he doesn’t look happy.

“I should have run him through when I had the chance. Were ye hurt?” William asks as he stands by our table. He glares at Demetrius.

“I can take care of myself, William. And it wasn’t Demetrius’ fault. I told him to talk to the girl. If I was in real danger, I knew he would have had my back. But if what Demetrius says is true, then I should leave. If you’re done here, can you escort me back to the ship?”

“Demetrius, go ahead of us and find the crew. I want to be out of here before day break,” he orders. Demetrius nods and leaves.

“Did you know that Demetrius and the bar wench were lovers once?” I ask to lighten the mood as William escorts me to the door.

“Aye. He was a young lad when he joined me crew. They parted ways and he only sees her when we com
e to port.”

“How sad. If we can avoid the rough areas of port, why not let the crew have some fun before we leave. You shouldn’t be the only to have any fun. Why don’t you show me the better parts of the island, or we can go back to the ship. Your choice.” I flutter my lashes at him with a sexy smile. If I had my choice, I’d have him take me to one of the whore houses and show me what being a pirate is really like. Because he is nothing like what I’ve read about.

He takes my hand and rushes out the door, placing his thumb and middle fingers in his mouth and lets out a loud whistle. I see Demetrius off in the distance turn and jog back to us.

“Locate the men and tell them to be back onboard before sunup. Then go and be with Mary while ye can,” William says.

Demetrius looks at him for a moment then looks at me, gives me a grin, and heads off to deal with his orders.

“So, Captain, what shall we do now?” I ask in the sexiest voice I can muster.

He looks at me and gives me a wicked grin. Grabbing my hand, he guides me at a quick pace to a different pub where he nods to the barkeep. The man hands William a mug. “Two,” William orders. The barkeep gives me a mug and I take it with a smile. “Anyone in the back?”

  “Not many.”

“Good.” William gulps his mug down then slams it on the bar.

He gives me a dominating look, so I down my ale in the same fashion, slamming mine on the bar as well. “Lead the way, Captain.”

We walk through a door down a dimly, candlelit hallway with doors on either side. We walk until we reach the last door, which stands open. The sounds coming from behind some of the doors leaves little to the imagination of what the occupants are doing inside. Hearing the noises has me hoping that William has the same ideas I have. He stands at the door and ushers me in. Grabbing an old bottle with a candle sticking out of it, he brings it into the room with us. Stepping around me, he places the candle on the bedside table. There is not much to the dirty room; just a small bed, nightstand, and a chair.

I walk over to the small window in the room and part the curtains to look outside. The view from here is amazing. You can see all the tall ships and so many people moving about. I drop the curtain and turn to look at William as he removes his coat and drapes it on the bed, then removes his shirt. Slowly, he prowls toward me. “When I heard what ye had done in the pub, the way ye handled yerself, made me want to find that bastard and kill him.”

“But I took care of myself.”

“Aye, but ye had to touch him. Even if it wasn’t in a very nice way.” He stops in front of me, bringing his hand up to my cheek and caressing. “It made me jealous to know that ye touched him at all.”

“William, if it makes you feel any better, the sick bastard was all talk. He couldn’t get it up.”

He shivers. “Good.” He moves in to kiss me, and I open for him. I’m turned on by the way he handles my body, and just the simple pleasure from a kiss. I tug on my coat and begin to undress. He pulls away and helps me out of the coat. I remove my weapons and set them on the nightstand. He helps me out of my corset and blouse, running his hands down my breasts and lifting one to his mouth, sucking hard while his other hand fondles the other one. I moan.

When he starts his descent, I stop him by placing my hand on his chest and backing him up until his knees bump into the chair. “Sit,” I command. He complies. I squat down and unlace his boots. Pulling one, then the other off. I reach for his waistband, untie his trousers, and give a tug. He lifts his hips so I can work them completely off. I have a great view of his hard cock standing at attention. I grab hold of him and begin to stroke his length. I watch his face as he closes his eyes and I keep watching his closed eyes as I lick him like a lollipop, up and down. When I slip him into my mouth, his eyes spring open to watch me. Swirling my tongue around and around as I bob up and down his length, he gives out a deep moan. I hum and his eyes widen at the feeling.

“Stop,” he breathes. I swirl my tongue a few more times before I stand and pull my boots off then untie my pants, slipping them down and off me. I’m watching him watch me while I strip.

I step toward him and straddle his lap. Bending at the waist, I kiss him long and deep. When I pull back, I wrap my hand around his cock and guide it to my entrance, then slowly lower myself onto him. I sit flush against his lap and rock a few times, rubbing myself against him. Running my hands through his hair, I pull so he has to look into my eyes. “I think I love you, William,” I say as I pick up the pace. His hands roam my body as I continue to ride him. I love the feel of him inside me, rock hard and velvety.

He grabs my ass so he can thrust into me deeper. The feeling is unbelievable. Soon, we are both climaxing. I collapse onto him and he holds me tight as we both try to regulate our breathing.

  Chapter 7

  Trouble in Port

We redress and head back out into the dimly lit hall. William steps out first to make sure no trouble has arrived while we had our fun. I follow closely behind. Before he gets very far, I grab hold of his hand and tug. He turns and looks at me. I step up to him and kiss him deeply, pouring my feelings into the kiss.

When he pulls away, he says, “Come, love, we best be back on-board soon.”

  “Aye, Aye, Captain.” I smile.

He takes my hand and leads me back into the pub with less people than before. William gives a small salute to the barkeep as we exit. The cobblestone road is just as packed as it was before. The group looks to be three sheets to the wind now. I guess that is bound to happen when all you do is drink rum all day and night.

“Keep close. They will be rowdier than they were when we first got here.”

I wrap my arm around his as we walk at a fast clip down the street. No one bothers us until we reach the edge of town. Smelly man is there with a group of men, watching us. “Shit,” I curse under my breath. So much for a clean getaway.

“Can I kill him this time?” William whispers in my ear.

  “Only if he tries something.”

William shakes his head as we continue to walk. I notice William looking around the crowed street so I do the same. I’m looking for familiar faces. Demetrius would be a wonderful face to see at the moment. But I don’t see any friendly faces and I’m starting to feel as if we may be in trouble soon.

We get to a section of the street where it begins to open onto the docks. If we could just get past the menacing looking group blocking our way. I look at William and his posture changes. He stands taller and has a stern look on his face as he tries to maneuver us around them, but the leader of the group moves, blocking our path. This can’t be good. I can see us taking on one or two guys, but no way can the two of us fight six big, ugly pirates.

“Don’t show fear and stay close. Ye’ll have to draw a weapon at some point. I be sorry.”

I roll my shoulders and straighten as tall as I can, taking in a few deep breaths. I can’t let my nerves take over or I’ll get us both killed.

“Part ways. We do not look for trouble here,” William calls.

The men laugh as the leader of the group steps forward. “Ye the wench that broke me mates dick?”

I hold my laugh. “I did no such thing. It was broken before I touched it.”

“She lies,” the smelly pirate calls from the side of the group. I notice that he’s not standing as cocky as he was when we first got here. He seems to be leaning forward a bit as if he is in pain.

“Silence!” William yells. “Let us pass and ye shall live.”

The men laugh again. I sure hope William has some sort of plan because I don’t see a way out of this mess alive.

“Me thinks the wench deserves to learn a lesson,” one of the men calls.

“I shall teach her a lesson once we are out to sea,” William placates.

“Ye‘ve already dipped yer cock in that wench. Me thinks the wench should come with us to learn a lesson.”

Shit, this is so not good. Where in the hell are William’s men when you need
them. I look around the gathering of people that seems to be growing and not one friendly face among them. Shit!

“The wench comes with me and ye will grant us passage,” William replies in a relaxed tone, then adds, “or else.”

“Or else?” The men laugh. “And what will be done? Ye and that wench going to fight all of us?” He opens his arms wide, motioning to the crowd that’s surrounding us, laughing as the rest of the crowd joins in on his joke.

William whispers, “Now.” We both pull our swords at the same time, along with other men and a few women that have gathered. I don’t recognize any of them until I see William’s crew come out of the shadows to show themselves to the crowd. They come to surround us with Demetrius standing on my right and William on my left.

“We seek passage from ye, ye scallywags. Will ye grant us now?” William asks with a smirk.

Everyone, with swords still drawn, stands looking around at each other. If this fight happens, there will be a lot of blood in the streets. Including mine.

“Aye, but if we see that wench in port again we won’t be so easily persuaded,” the leader of the nasty pirates says as he and his group sleeve their swords and walk back up the street to look for trouble elsewhere.

I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding. I manage to return my cutlass without cutting myself. I turn to Demetrius and punch him in the arm. “Where the hell were you?” William laughs as Demetrius rubs his arm where I punched him. “It’s not funny,” I add.

“I saw me men scattered about. They knew there be trouble before ye or I did. I know where to look for them. We were in no danger this time,” William explains.

“Can we go now? And who were all of the other people that pulled their swords?”

We begin to walk the boardwalk toward our ship. “Those fools are the trouble makers of the port. They are always here. With no ship to call their own, they hang about here and cause trouble. Whoever stands against them, the others will have their backs.” William explains. “Demetrius, is the crew back on board?”
